Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Home Invasion Victim Shot in Mississauga

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with multiple armed home invasions in Mississauga, Toronto, and Brampton. One of the incidents left a victim seriously injured after being shot while attempting to prevent a break-in.

Peel Regional Police reported that the shooting occurred in the early hours of October 15 at a residence near Glen Erin Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road. According to authorities, the victim confronted the intruders during the home invasion and was shot by one of the suspects, who was armed with a firearm. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that had reportedly been stolen in Toronto. Police later apprehended the alleged shooter during an attempted break-in at another home in Toronto.

Investigators have linked the suspect to two additional home invasions in Brampton and Mississauga. In these incidents, groups of suspects allegedly forced their way into homes, demanding cash, jewelry, electronics, and vehicle keys. One of the victims suffered minor injuries during these robberies.

The suspect, identified as Burgan Abdulkadir, who has no fixed address, faces a series of charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearm offenses, robbery, and possession of stolen property. The charges have not yet been proven in court, and police noted that additional charges may be laid as their investigation continues.
